A three-course evening meal is included on 5 of the 7 nights, leaving two evenings in which you’ll have the oppurtuinity to explore Vitoria-Gasteiz’s thriving restaurant scene, sampling everything from traditional Basque pintxos to innovative local cuisine.
Upon arrival, our Tour Co-ordinator will warmly welcome you before transferring you to the Sercotel Boulevard in Vitoria-Gasteiz, a city rich in history with a beautifully preserved medieval old town and a lively cultural atmosphere. After checking in, take some time to settle in and unwind after your journey before enjoying a delicious dinner.
Enjoy a full day at leisure to spend as you wish. There are no planned activities, so you can explore Vitoria-Gasteiz at your own pace. Why not stroll through the medieval quarter, visit a local market, or relax at a café and simply soak in the atmosphere?
This morning, set off for San Sebastián, a city that effortlessly combines breathtaking coastal scenery, elegant architecture and an unrivalled culinary scene. Nestled along a sweeping bay, this Basque gem is famed for its Belle Époque charm, world-class restaurants and laid-back seaside atmosphere.
A guided walking tour will introduce you to the city’s most stunning sights. Begin at the iconic La Concha Beach, where golden sands and shimmering waters create one of the most beautiful urban coastlines in Europe. Stroll along the promenade, passing grand hotels and historic buildings before reaching the Royal Miramar Palace, once the summer retreat of Spanish royalty. Continue into the Old Town, where cobbled streets lead to lively squares, centuries-old churches and the bustling Mercado La Bretxa, where locals shop for the finest seafood, cheese and fresh produce. As you explore, soak in the city's vibrant atmosphere, where tradition and modernity blend seamlessly.
After a morning of discovery, it’s time to savour the flavours of San Sebastián with a pintxos tasting. These small, beautifully crafted bites are the heart of Basque cuisine, each one a perfect combination of fresh, local ingredients. You’ll sample a variety of these delicacies, from gildas (olives, anchovies and pickled peppers) to txangurro-stuffed peppers and salt cod tortilla, all paired with a refreshing glass of Txakoli wine.
As the day winds down, rejoin your group and travel back to Vitoria-Gasteiz, reflecting on the stunning landscapes, rich history and unforgettable flavours of San Sebastián.
Today, immerse yourself in the rich heritage and celebrated wines of La Rioja, Spain’s most renowned wine region. The day begins in Logroño, a city with a deep connection to the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route and a thriving wine culture. A guided walking tour will take you through its historic centre, starting at the Concatedral Santa María de la Redonda, an elegant Baroque cathedral known for its striking twin towers. Stroll through the Market Square, where local vendors sell fresh produce and regional delicacies, and admire the Saint Bartolomé Church, the city’s oldest religious structure, with its distinctive Romanesque bell tower. Walk along the Revellín Walls, remnants of Logroño’s medieval fortifications, before crossing the Puente de Hierro, a striking iron bridge spanning the Ebro River.
In the afternoon, continue to Laguardia, a stunning medieval village perched on a hilltop, offering panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards. The village, largely pedestrian-only, is a labyrinth of cobbled streets lined with centuries-old stone houses and hidden wine cellars. The highlight of the day is a visit to Marqués de Riscal Winery, one of Spain’s most iconic wine estates. Founded in 1858, it blends tradition with innovation, best known for its Frank Gehry-designed hotel, a striking architectural masterpiece with flowing metallic curves. On a guided tour, learn about the winemaking process, from vineyard cultivation to barrel ageing in the estate’s historic cellars. Conclude with a wine tasting, sampling some of their finest vintages, each embodying the depth and complexity of Rioja wines.
After an eventful few days, today is yours to relax and recharge. Stroll through Vitoria-Gasteiz’s green parks, visit a museum or enjoy a laid-back afternoon sampling local delicacies. If you’re looking for more adventure, you may choose to explore nearby towns or take a short trip to another hidden gem of the Basque Country.
Today, head to Bilbao, a city that seamlessly blends its industrial past with cutting-edge architecture, vibrant culture and a world-class culinary scene. A guided walking tour will take you through the city's most captivating sights, beginning at Bilbao train station, known for its impressive stained-glass windows. Explore the Barrio de San Francisco, a revitalised neighbourhood with a mix of traditional shops, modern cafés and street art.
Cross the historic Puente de San Antón, a bridge deeply tied to Bilbao’s origins, before reaching the Puente del Arenal, a scenic crossing leading into the city’s bustling heart. Stroll through Plaza Nueva, a lively square filled with pintxos bars, and admire San Nicolás Church and Bilbao Catedral, two stunning examples of the city’s architectural heritage. End the tour at Plaza Arriaga, home to the elegant Arriaga Theatre, a cultural landmark inspired by the Paris Opera House.
Afterwards, enjoy free time for lunch, where you can sample Basque cuisine at one of Bilbao’s many taverns or restaurants. Whether you opt for fresh seafood, grilled meats or the ever-popular pintxos, the city offers no shortage of incredible flavours.
In the afternoon, visit the Guggenheim Museum, one of the world’s most celebrated contemporary art museums. Designed by Frank Gehry, its futuristic titanium curves have become Bilbao’s most iconic landmark. Inside, explore groundbreaking exhibitions, with works by Jeff Koons, Anish Kapoor and Richard Serra, among others. Don’t miss the striking outdoor sculptures, including Puppy, a giant floral-covered dog, and Maman, a towering spider sculpture.
As the day draws to a close, return to Vitoria-Gasteiz, reflecting on Bilbao’s mix of history, modernity and artistic brilliance.
Today, journey to Pamplona, a city famed for its rich history, elegant architecture and the legendary Running of the Bulls. A guided walking tour will introduce you to its most iconic landmarks, starting at San Nicolás Church, one of the oldest in the city. Stroll along the tree-lined Sarasate Promenade, passing the grand Palacio de Navarra, seat of the regional government.
Continue to Plaza del Castillo, Pamplona’s lively main square, surrounded by elegant cafés and historic buildings. Walk down Shoemaker Street, once home to the city’s craftsmen, and arrive at Pamplona City Hall, a striking Baroque building where the San Fermín Festival begins each year. Follow the route of the famous bull run along Estafeta Street, lined with traditional bars and restaurants, before finishing at the Cathedral of Pamplona, an impressive Gothic landmark.
After the tour, enjoy free time to explore the city at your own pace. After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight, taking with you wonderful memories of the Basque Country’s incredible culture, history and cuisine.
