Much favoured by the Italians themselves, the pretty resort of Desenzano on the southern shores of Lake Garda oozes character and historic charm. This is a truly welcoming resort with a friendly atmosphere, perfect for families and couples alike. You can while away pleasant hours in the town centre with its stylish boutiques and antique shops, stopping for coffee or a bite to eat at one of the many pavement cafes, restaurants and trattorias that line the piazzas. Regular classical and jazz concerts are held in the main square in summer and there is an antiques market on the first Sunday of each month (except in August).

Desenzano has three beaches on the lake, ideal for lazing in a deckchair and soaking up the views. The nightlife here is among the best on the lake, with activity on the piazzas continuing well into the early hours.
